MEET THE CHAIR

Dr. Gallop Franklin II, Chairman

Dr. Gallop Franklin is a young, elected official and healthcare professional who brings a deep understanding of education, healthcare, and governance to Best and Brightest PAC.

Born and raised in Tallahassee, FL, Dr. Gallop P. Franklin II graduated from Florida A&M University's (FAMU) College of Pharmacy. While attending FAMU, Franklin served two terms as Student Body President. He was also elected to serve on the Florida Board of Governors, Florida's Higher Education System policy board.

Gallop’s strong interest in public service led him to become a Gubernatorial fellow. During this time, he gained insight into how Florida's Governor manages the state and assisted Governor Charlie Crist's administration. While a Gubernatorial Fellow, Gallop was nominated by U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and confirmed by the Open World Leadership Center to serve as a Kremlin Fellow, which at the time was a group of aspiring U.S. leaders who played an intricate role within US-Eurasian relationships.

In 2022, Gallop was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, District 8. The district includes parts of Leon County, including the Capitol of Florida, and the entirety of Gadsden County, a rural majority-minority African American county. During his time in the legislature, Dr. Franklin has focused on various policy initiatives, including improving education and expanding healthcare access. Despite being a freshman Democrat, Gallop has successfully passed meaningful legislation in a Republican-dominated legislature.

Complementing his work as a public servant, Gallop has committed his professional life to addressing health disparities in the community. At Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, he oversees pharmacy services that support the Outpatient Oncology Center and the Inpatient Oncology Unit. Gallop works as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at FAMU where he is the Chair of the Curriculum Committee for the College. Desiring to continue to improve the community through additional avenues, Gallop founded an education-focused consulting firm and a boutique Real Estate investment firm focused on providing affordable housing for communities throughout Northern Florida.

Gallop is currently a Cornell University student pursuing an MBA/MS in Healthcare Leadership. He is a fourth-degree black belt in Shaolin Goju karate, a former nationally ranked gymnast, and accomplished violinist. Gallop is happily married and enjoys playing golf and volunteering.
